OUR MISSION & VISION

Food understood.
Connection made possible.

Mission. Love Salone builds technology to represent food as people experience it, including overlooked cuisines, and help people discover, share, and make decisions about what they eat.

Vision. We envision better food understanding that respects culture, strengthens community, and can inform carefully designed future research.

A LONG-TERM RESEARCH AMBITION

Better questions
about everyday choices.

Founder & CEO Melinda Arnold brings more than 20 years of healthcare experience, including leading a team that supports customers. Her Sierra Leonean perspective and interest in people’s health shape the questions we want to explore.

How do preferences, food traditions, and cultural context shape what people choose to eat? Carefully designed future studies could explore these patterns and their relevance to diet-related health questions.

TasteTwins is not a medical or nutritional tool and has no validated clinical outcomes. Research would require separate consent, privacy safeguards, governance, expert collaboration, and study design. Product use does not establish research consent.

WHAT SUPPORT ENABLES

More representation.
Better evidence.

We welcome discussions about supporting the next stage of TasteTwins. These are proposed priorities; no funding award, research partnership, or delivery date is claimed.

01 / FOOD REPRESENTATION

Broaden and check the catalog.

Describe more dishes from underrepresented foodways and review ingredient, preparation, and sensory information with appropriate expertise.

02 / PRODUCT EVALUATION

Learn from private testing.

Evaluate usability and accessibility, gather permissioned feedback, and test compute approaches for dish description and matching before making scale or accuracy claims.

03 / RESEARCH DESIGN

Define a responsible study.

Work toward a scoped research question, consent materials, privacy controls, governance, and a study design that can produce useful evidence.

Next, not yet completed: broader catalog review, structured beta feedback, and evaluation of The Gauntlet’s planned TasteTwins connection. Timing depends on development and the evidence gathered.
